NZ Immigration Blog — Visa Guides in Plain English

New Zealand's immigration rules change often, and the official wording rarely makes it obvious what a change means for the person reading it. This blog exists to close that gap. Every guide here is written by IAA Licensed Immigration Advisers and explains what actually happened, who it affects, and what to do about it.

We write for three kinds of reader. Migrants already in New Zealand who need to understand a rule change before it affects their visa. People planning a move who want to know which pathway realistically fits their situation. And New Zealand employers navigating accreditation, Job Checks and their obligations to migrant staff.

Guides are grouped into nine topics: Work Visas, Residence & Citizenship, Employers, Student & Visitor Visas, Partnership & Family, Complex Cases & Appeals, Scams & Safety, Moving to NZ, and News & Policy.

Everything here is general information rather than advice about your own case. Immigration outcomes turn on specifics — your occupation, your wage, your history, your timing — and two people reading the same guide can face very different answers. Where a topic is genuinely case-dependent we say so rather than generalising.

If you want to know where you stand, our free tools give you a starting point, and a 30-minute consultation with a licensed adviser will tell you whether your situation is straightforward or needs a closer look.
