Visitor and Student Visas New Zealand — Auckland Advisers

Most visitor and student visa applications are straightforward, and if yours is, you probably don't need an adviser. We'd rather tell you that than take the fee.

Where advice earns its keep is when the application has something in it that needs handling. A previous decline or overstay. A health condition that engages the medical requirements. A character issue. A parent or grandparent application where the sponsorship and funding evidence has to hold up. A student visa where the genuine intentions question needs answering properly rather than generically. Travel dates tight enough that a decline can't be absorbed.

For students, we also advise on how a course connects to post-study work rights and, further out, to residence — because the qualification you choose now shapes what's available to you in three years, and that's easier to plan than to fix.

Situations we often help with

Questions clients often ask

My visitor visa was declined. Can I apply again?

Yes, but a new application needs to deal with the reasons for the decline. Submitting the same application again rarely works. Start by reading the decline letter carefully. Our guide on what to do if your visa is declined explains your options.

Does my course choice affect my post-study work rights?

Yes. Post-study work visa eligibility depends on the qualification you complete and how you study it, so it's worth choosing your course with your end goal in mind. Our post-study work visa guide covers the current rules.

Do I need a medical or chest x-ray?

It depends on how long you plan to stay and where you've spent time. Our free Medical & X-ray Checker gives you a quick answer.

Working with us

Here's what to expect when you engage us.

How it works

  1. Initial consultation. We talk through your situation, your goals and anything in your history that Immigration New Zealand will want to know about.
  2. Case analysis and quote. We assess your options against current Immigration New Zealand rules and give you a written quote.
  3. Service agreement. We agree the scope of work and our fees with you in writing before any work starts, as the Licensed Immigration Advisers Code of Conduct requires.
  4. Document checklist. You receive a checklist tailored to your application, so you know exactly what to gather.
  5. Preparing your application. We prepare your application and any supporting submissions, and check every document before anything goes to Immigration New Zealand.
  6. Submission with your approval. Nothing is lodged until you have reviewed and approved the final application.
  7. Through to a decision. We handle all contact with Immigration New Zealand on your behalf until a decision is made.

Fees

Our initial consultation is 30 minutes for $99 (incl. GST where applicable), invoiced afterwards and credited to your professional fee if you engage us within 3 months. Every case is different, so we quote after the initial consultation, once we understand your situation. Your quote, and exactly what it covers, is confirmed in your written service agreement before any work begins.

Timelines

We can usually meet you the same day or the next day, or at another time that suits you. Once your application is lodged, the processing time is set by Immigration New Zealand and varies by visa type. INZ publishes its current processing times here: How long it takes to process an application (Immigration New Zealand).

Your adviser

Your application is handled by Ishvinder Singh, Licensed Immigration Adviser (IAA licence 201401130).
