How the residence pathway checker works

This tool runs your answers against all seven New Zealand residence pathways at once — Green List Tier 1 and Tier 2, the SMC Trades & Technician and Skilled Work Experience pathways (in force since 24 August 2026), the SMC Points-based pathway, the Care Workforce sector pathway, and the Transport Sector pathway.

Wage thresholds derive from the current median wage of $35.00/hour (in effect since 9 March 2026). The Care Workforce rate of $28.25/hour is a separate fixed Level 4 rate, stable since 1 July 2022. Results show every pathway you qualify for now, every pathway you're on track for, and what's missing on each.
